Spain is known for its vibrant night life and Barcelona is very much the place to be. Discos and pubs are aplenty here but our city is also highly regarded for its cocktail bar scene, perfect for unwinding after a day of touring and exploring the sights. So when in town, check out (some or all of) these Barcelona cocktail bars:
Address: Carrer d’Aribau, 162-166 Web: www.drymartiniorg.com
Staring with an institution and a reference not only on the cocktail scene of Barcelona but worldwide – Dry Martini by Javier de Las Muelas. Considered among the top 10 bars in the world, this bar has been welcoming the lovers of good drinks and good ambiance for the last 30 years. The interior resembles the comfortable lobby of an all-time classic 5-star hotel and is perfectly inducing to the stellar experience to come. The list of cocktails is extensive but the bartenders can also make other suggestions depending on your taste. Are you ready to have a cocktail with your name on it?
Address: Carrer de Rera Palau, 4
The speakeasy par excellence in Barcelona and you will find Paradiso tucked behind the fridge door of a pastrami shop. Once inside, the bar is quite spacious and welcomes couples and bigger groups alike. It absolutely deserves the hype as all the cocktails we have tried there have always been top notch. Some even come in their signature skull shaped classes! So head to Paradiso if you are looking for a good mix in the old city but be prepared to wait if necessary for this well-known ´hidden bar´.
Address: Carrer dels Mirallers, 5
Doctor Stravinsky is not the typical speak easy although you will certainly need a guidance to find it or better just stumble upon it. Tucked away in the old medieval streets behind the Santa Maria del Mar church, its interior looks like a lab that exhibits how the finest spirits are distilled. You will not find Mojito or Sex on the Beach here – this bar only serves the finest signature drinks and at very reasonable rates as well. We couldn´t recommend it enough.
Address: Passatge de la Concepcio, 12 Web: www.bocagrande.cat/en/boca-chica
An upscale trendy bar that is definitely worth a visit in Barcelona. The interior design is elaborate and this also translates to the style of the crowd – come dressed in your best attire to see and be seen. The drinks may be on the pricey side but up to standard and the bar tenders are a show to watch as they prepare them. Even the toilets at Boca chica are fabulous – perfectly suited for a total VIP experience.
Address: Plaza Reial, 3 Web: www.pipaclub.eu
Pipa Club is located just above one of Barcelona´s liveliest squares – Plaza Reial – but you will have to look for it to find it. Find door number 3 on the square and ring the bell that says Pipa Club. The doorman will then give you a membership card and let you in. Once inside enjoy a carefully crafted cocktail in their modern interior while overlooking the beautiful square below. Pipa club is an excellent alternative if you want to be part of the night life but also enjoy some privacy and exclusivity.
One Ocean Bar
Address: Moll de la Barceloneta, 11 Web: www.oneoceanclub.es
Our favouite sea front spot in Barcelona the OneOcean bar. Located right next to the old port, it offers superb views over the marina and modern sophisticated atmosphere inspired by Gaudi´s style. We love the music here too – sometimes they play chill DJ mixes and occasionally there is live music. The cocktails menu includes both classics and some signature drinks and taste even better as you watch the sunset. Why not try OneOcean for drinks and join us on our Foodie Ride Tapas tour for dinner?
Thank you for joining us on this journey to our favourite Barcelona cocktail bars. Cheers or ´salud´!
